Avodart I'd be most interested if anyone is currently using Avodart in the USA and would post what if any their results are. It has been on the market for some time now, yet I have't heard anything in terms of how effective it is.This surprises me considering the hoopla over the yrs. surrounding this drug, that was supposted to be far more potent in regrowing hair, as opposed to Propecia/ Proscar. therefore anyone that is currently using it and has been for at least four months, then post a message and let us know what your results are. Thanks, James

Hey James. I've been using Avodart for about 5 months and have noticed my thin areas starting to thicken. I will be using it for at least 1 year to determine if there is any regrowth. I'll keep you posted. P.S. I use Avodart in addition to other products. Is anyone using Avodart alone and if so, what are the results. Vinny

I've been using Avodart for about 6 months now, in conjunction with other meds. I have not noticed any change with Avodart--I am going to stop using it once I run out. I suppose it makes some sense that if it TRULY worked well for even a small number of men, it would be marketed to hell and back in the USA. From what I gather, to get the dosage that you would need for it to work, the cost would be prohibitive. I have been using proscar/propecia (and later 5% rogaine as well) since the early 90s (had a dr. prescribe off-label). It has helped to greatly slow down the process. I keep thinning, just very slowly. I started thinning at around 22 and am now 36 and still have about 60% or so of my hair up top. I can hide the thinning relatively well with a good haircut and some concealer. I would suggest saving your money with Avodart and trying propecia if you haven't yet, in conjunction with 5% rogaine--that seems to be a good combo for most people. After 10 years, I have personally had no side affects and decent results. Scott

In response to member 15816 question, yes I did notice some shedding between 2 and 4 months. I'm now on month 5 and the shedding has stopped. I didn't consider it a lot of shedding- maybe around 10 hairs after shampooing and showering. I didn't have large thin areas form since starting Avodart.

Aren't they still working on the approval for it? I think it's in the pipeline for approval for hair loss.
