Minoxidil on other areas.

Hello,

Will be trying Minoxidil on the top of my scalp (vertex) as shown in the instructions. I was wondering if there is any point trying it as well in the frontal areas where there is thinning ?

Thanks !

Yes. Although tests were done only in the crown area, Minoxidil will work in the front. Start with 5% first. If the front doesn't respond, I would go with Xandrox 15(15% Minoxidil).

Jetman is right. Feel confident that it will help your hairline, since its mechanism is non-hormone related, it acts to effect change in terms of cellular messengers (i.e. nitrogen) which stimulate thicker, more active hair shafts. Good luck maine.

Thanks for the tips.

Since they only recommend 1ml twice daily, should I spread the 1ml in the top of the scalp & front areas or use 1ml on the top & 1ml in the front areas ?

Also do you use fingertips to rub the stuff in ? I was concerned alot of the minoxidil would get absorbed in the fingers ?

That is why you wash your hands with soap after.

A little getting on your fingertips isn't going to make a difference - as said just be sure to wash so you don't transfer it to other parts of your body. Some minox makers offer a rub-on attachment so that you can apply the minox to the scalp from the bottle directly without using your fingertips to massage it in. There was also a little fingertip thingie designed especially for rubbing hair solutions in several years back but I can't even remember what the name is now :)

Get yourself a hair pick, a plastic one about 2" wide with the large rounded ends on the tips. It works well for rubbing in Minoxidil, so long as you're gentle. It's also good because the tips of the pick are small and help keep the Minoxidil out of your hair when rubbing it in. However, I've had excellent results with Minoxidil and never given much care to rubbing it in.

If you are using Minoxidil on your entire head (vertex, mid and front) then you will probably need a little more than 1 mL per application (1.0 mL - 1.3 mL), especially if your hair is a little long.

Using your fingertips to rub in the Minoxidil will allow even distribution to all areas you feel need treatment, this will also prevent the Minoxidil from "running" and will allow it to dry quicker. Either rubbing the Minoxidil in or choosing not to your results will be the same, so it pretty much comes down to whatever floats your boat.
