What would be the Dutusteride equivalent of 1mg Finasteride? I don’t understand the difference? Does Dut come in a capsule form?Do you get a Dut version of proscar that you can cut up? Why is Dutasteride spoken of in here, like it’s some risk resulting in life or death? I spoke to someone yesterday who said the fuss surrounding Dut on forums is extremely exaggerated. Does it have a different taste? Does anyone here take it with success? Where is the cheapest place to buy this stuff? Cheers

I have decided to try Dut after reading about it fairly extensively online. I am 35 with pretty extensive hair loss. In Dec I decided to try something for the new year and realized if this didn't work I would just shave and go bald (I refuse to transplant or toupee). I am just today starting this program of .5mg Dut every other day after an initial 1.5mg/day load for 5 days, plus 5% Minox & probably Nizoral shampoo (as I've heard it helps also). Dut (Dutasteride) is similar to Finesteride in that it blocks the production of DHT, but it blocks both types of DHT production. It also is more potent and stays within the blood longer. Given the data I have read, I am doing an initial load to bring the concentration of dut in my bloodstream up to a point that it would take about 4-8 weeks taking just a .5mg a day. I will then switch to taking one pill every other day. This should reduce my DHT in the scalp about 50% (vs 55% if I took it every day and 38% on finesteride). From what I have read, Dut appears to be as safe as finesteride but is just more powerfull. Hairloss trials were discontinued due to financial/economic reasons and therefore never introduced here in the states. I order it from overseas. As for how dut tastes.... it's a pill like finesteride. More accurately it's a gel cap that doesn't cut very well (hence why I don't cut one tablet up and take half every day). I will ake pictures and post them in the coming months if it works. Otherwise I will go crawl into a bottle and drawn my hairloss depression away.

Oh, cost. I am ordering generic dut from overseas (search the Internet for a provider). The Dut will cost me about $30-40 a month for the regimine I am planning, plus generic minox is about $10-15 a month depending on where you get it from. So the entire cost is about $50 a month, which I can live with for hair (My self worth isn't so tied up in my hair that I'd pay hundreds a month).

Avodart(Dutasteride) comes in a gel cap form. I wouldn't try cutting it in half. Ask a Pharmacist-he/she may be able to tell you what the equivilant is. I've been on Avodart for almost two years. Personally, I wouldn't try to mess with the dosage. Be careful.

Cheers for the replies. There's Avodart, Dutas and Duprost. I'm from the UK. Anyone else from the UK who takes Dut? Who do you order from? and how much do you get it from? Thanks once again.
