Nizoral OTC 1%

Hello everything. I'm a new poster here and been reading through pages and pages of files and this site has been a great help for me. One problem is that I see a lot of arguing, but I guess since different treatments work for different people, that is expected.

Well, I currently have a full head of hair to the normal person's eyes. However, I personally know that I am thinning (my center part has widened and my hairline has thinned a bit). I have very long hair, so I think that helps in people not noticing anything as well.

My current treatments are as follows:

Hairmax Lasercomb (since Feb 4) Saw Palmetto (320 MG) once daily since April 1. One Source multivitamen for Men (with extra SP and Green Tea) once daily. One cup of Green Tea since July 1

Today, I went to Walmart and purchased Nizoral 1%. My question is, will this help me? I read so much about 2%, but what about the OTC kind. Does it come even close to helping as well as the prescription strength?

Please, someone tell me and also, any ideas of what I can add to my current regime to keep my long, rock and roll hair looking good? Thanks.

SP has about half the effect of finasteride does on the Prostate and only finasteride has shown in studies to effect DHT in the scalp...not SP but the theory is it might or could or should, etc.

I have been on 1% for about 6 years now and I have more hair than my 18 month younger brother. I attribute that to the 1% among other things. Studies has shown it helps keep what you have by effecting DHT on top of the scalp.

I also drink at least 1 cup of green tea(TAZO) but dunno if it helps. It is the next best thing to water to drink.

I think 60 Minutes did a balding segment on their show last year of 6 guys and gave them different treatments...the Lasercomb surprised some people with good results...thicker hair due to circulation. Can't you get that by messaging your scalp...hmmm free???

A study was done on Nizoral 2% and showed it produced minor regrowth. Alone the shampoo won't do much of anything, but if you use it in conjunction with proven treatments like Propecia or Minoxidil then it adds a little extra to an already good pair of treatments. The 1% is better than nothing, but there was no study showing it helped out with any regrowth, at least not that I am aware of. Again though, the 1% is better than using some other kind of over the counter shampoo, so most people just settle since they are only missing out on possible minor regrowth.

The best advice that can be given is to ditch the Saw Palmetto and add Minoxidil 5% and Propecia to your routine as well as the Nizoral shampoo. The other things on your routine are fine it's just that the Saw Palmetto isn't going to help your hair loss, so continuing to take it is a wasted effort.

Simply increasing the blood circulation to your head will not give you the same effect, the low level laser acts as a wound healing and anti inflammatory device that creates the results.
