Side effects/risks with Minoxidil? What are the risks associated with minoxidil? I'm thinking of trying Spectral DNC or that min.com lotion, along with some of the [edit - IH] supplements. I stopped using finesteride after reading some of the stories on here, and possibly noticing some of the effects myself. Any there any potential worries with minox? By looking at the Spectral DNC site it looks like flaking/itching is the main risk, with a slight chance of dizziness due to low blood pressure from the minox, but I want to check here for some 'real-life' experiences.

Most people report dizziness with Minoxidil usage. For myself, I've used minoxidil 2% and I've experienced headaches and dizziness. I've stopped using it since. What is Spectral DNC and how bad is your hair condition?

I used Rogaine Foam for a month. I noticed dizziness, headaches, water retention in my face and chest pain. Minox isn't for me unfortunately. But you might want to give it a shot and see how you react. Others swear by it.

Thanks for the responses. Now I'm a little hesitant, but I guess dizziness and headaches are better than gyno and ED. Maybe I'll give it a shot. I'm 39 and have a fairly large bald spot in the back of my head that's been slowly and steadily growing for about 10 years, and a high forehead (haven't check a Norwood chart lately so not sure what level I am) with thinning on top. I'd like to try to tame the recession (and maybe grow some back) before the front and back meet. Spectral DNC is a Minox formulation that some people report good results with where Rogaine didn't work (look around on here there are a bunch of threads on it - just don't get caught up in the flaming!).

I guess I'm not most people, but I haven't noticed any side effects from minoxidil. Used it off and on for years.

tman: I've been using Minoxidil for years with excellent results and no adverse side effects of any kind whatsoever. The only way to determine if you'll have any adverse side effects from Minoxidil is to give it a try. If you experience dizziness, etc., just drop the stuff.

I agree with Sandman. Try it out. If you do get dizziness and headaches it is more serious than it sounds bc it is caused by a drop in blood pressure which is nothing to fool around with.
