Clamenza is exactly right about the amino acid IGF-1 thing. I had that same itching, semi-greasy, red bump problem on propecia but not with Avodart. It must be due to 5AR-1. What you are experiencing IS HAIRLOSS. The propecia is not working but it is not causing those bumps or your hair to fall out. Neither is IGF-1! It takes huge amounts of a single amino acid on an empty stomach to raise HGH/IGF-1 like Clamenza said. I take the REAL injectable kind for anti-aging and I don't notice an effect on my hair either way.

brh,

I'm not saying what you should or shouldn't do, just what my experience is.

It is my experience that avodart is a lot more effective for me than propecia. It also has a lot worse side effects; so it seems that in my case at least, there is a positive relation between effectiveness and side effects.

I'm not saying propecia doesn't work. It works well for some and not at all for others. I was just making the observation that it doesn't seem to be working for you, and it's my opinion that what you are experiencing (inflamation-red bumps at the follicle, recession, continued hair loss, greasy hair, etc.) is not because of the propecia, it is in spite of it.

I've been on propecia now for just on 5 months and my hair loss has increased as well. The frontal hairline is about the same but my hair has thinned right out all over the crown area.

I'm 24 but i first started losing hair from age 21. It was gradual to begin with but in the last two years its taken a battering, I'd guess I've lost about 80% of the hair on the crown and frontal areas of my head. Its so thin now the scalp is clearly visible, especially in the sunlight.

I've also been on minox for the last two months. Since starting on minox I've noticed some regrowth - Just single hairs growing up here and there. They do seem a lot thicker but I'm not sure whether these are new hairs or hairs growing back following the shedding period.

In the last week or two I've noticed that some of the fine white hairs on my temple area (the ones you can hardly see) have started turning blond and are gradually growing through thicker. You can't tell though unless you look really closely so the general appearance of my hair hasn't improved at all.

My hair loss seems to have stopped now, so I hope it can only get better from here. I'm also using Nioxin and Nizoral.

I'd be interested to hear from anyone else who's continued on propecia for more than six months. My guess is that once people see significant regrowth they don't need to visit the site anymore...that's maybe why we don't hear too many success stories.

Hello Everyone, I've been on PROPECIA for 1 year, basically a month after i noticed hair loss. im 19 years old and idk why this is happening to me!! the youngest person in my family that began experiencing hair loss was their early 30s.... and beleive me the doctors are no help.

whenever i bring up hair loss everyone thinks im crazy, including the doctors... so i guess that means i found different ways of covering it up, like changing my hairstyle. man i really wish my hair doesn't fall out anymore untill i finish my college or get married which ever comes first...

Enough of my trials and tribulations, I really think propecia stopped my hairloss, because my hair looks 95% the same since the day i started the prescription. it's so weird, i always hear stories of people not noticing hair loss for years but for me it's like it all fell in 1-2 months. i was having great deals of stress daily for about a year prior my hair loss... so that might have triggered it.

My propecia prescription finished 3 months ago and my hair is exactly the same, and i haven't noticed any more then usual hairs falling out...

im still hoping for that superpill to come out, but my doctor told me its very unlikely because someone or company would need to invest $100 million to find the perfect pill and get it FDA approved, and why would doctors or anyone encourage a new pill when propecia sales are doing great already and will always be doing good because of people like us. face it guys even if propecia makes everyone bald 20 times faster... we would still be taking it just to say we're doing something about our hairloss, which sucks cause then we will never see that superpill... :-(

Re:

First of all i want to say :What the hell is happening in this thread? Everybody is on the Propecia defamation bandwagon?Oh yeah and i bet if the webmaster checks some ip`s at least 2-3 users are the same....

What results are you expecting after 3-4 months ? You need IMO at least 8-10 months to see results...So patience...

``Xytrene`` i continued propecia for more than 6 months ,actually i`m at @ the 6th year.I cant remember well but the shedding went on for a few months after i started propecia.Than for months i lost 0 (zero hairs /day).

Somewhere @ every 20-24 months i go thru a shed smaller or bigger with very little or 0 loss of density(i guess its not from MPB,its the normal shedding cycle). For 5 years Propecia kept my hair UNFUCKINGCHANGED,with months and months of losing 0 hairs, none in the shower none on the pillows non in baseballcaps.I still laugh at peoples post which says that its normal to lose 50-75-100 hairs a day... This year i went thru the biggest shed of my life and finally lost some density @ my temple area.I shaved my head to see what i lost and here you can see it too

The shed finally stopped a few months ago.I`m back to 0 hairs lost /day.Now i will let my hair grow back long. When my hair its long you cant even tell that i`m losing..

So for me Propecia kept my hair unchanged (well except the little density loss @ my temples)for @ 6 years and i hope i can pull it until something better comes along. And thats the reason i keep comeing back to this site...
