Al these New Minoxidils???

So there seems to be a bit of a revolution going o with the Topicals available.

All the nanosomes from Spectral DNC and Sinere et al. Can anyone sort the wheat from chaff here? What's good - what's not.

I'm looking for something that is effective, absorbs quickly, and doesn;t leave my hair all messy, or wierd to touch.

THANKS!!

Oh yeah, just to follow up...

There is now this Topical Finasteride right? does it work - and more importantly, do still get the sides that you might from internal FIN?

Thanks again...

It can be very confusing-I wish I had all these choices 20 years ago! The best thing I can recommend is to start with plain 5% generic Minoxidil. If you need something with an extra kick, I would try Minomuck(generic ScalpMed-Zix Creator has a website:http://www.qdbd.com/hair_loss_treatment_1.htm.), Spectral DNC,Xandrox,Promox(which has topical Finasteride)and Sinere. Xandrox and Spectral dry very quickly and aren't greasy IMO. Topical Finasteride shouldn't give you sides that it will internally-not that much will even reach the bloodstream. The topical Betasis/Saw Palmetto in Minomuck has similar properties as the Fin. There has been a lot of buzz on these lately as a topical. I haven't used topical Fin myself and have just started on Minomuck. Maybe some other posters like Sandman can help. Sandman has used just about every Minox product out there so I think he can add more to what info I have given you. I hope this helps clear things up a bit. Most of this is trial and error. Best of luck.

Thanks Jetman - it is confusing. I've been using Rogaine for about a year, with some results (I think) and the occasional bottle of Spectral DNC. The Spectral annoyed me at first because of the yellow staining, then they said they had sorted that out, but it still made my hair feel like straw, and the spray nozzle kept clogging up. It did feel better than the oily Rogaine though,

If anyone has any more advice I would REALLY appreciate it. I know it's a vexed topic on these boards, but are these Nonsomes all they're cracked up to be?

Many Thanks.

I say yes because when I used Spectral, I felt heart palpitations shortly after using it. That never happened when I took generic Monoxidil. The newer version of Spectral doesn't stain your head-it's nice to walk around without thinking someone took a piss on your head! The spray nozzle was a joke-always had trouble with it. I wish they sent a regular eye-dropper with the nozzle. Good luck.

Why Me?:

Spectral DNC now comes with both a spray type pump applicator, which I like very much, and a dropper.

The spray applicator does clogg on occasion, but the problem is not the applicator itself. I use these applicators on Dr. Lee's Minoxidil solutions and Dr. Klein's Promox and they never clog, ever!

It's the formualtion of Spectral DNC that casues the clog. In most cases you can simply run the tip of the applicator under hot water, but sometimes you have to remove the applicator and pump hot water through it.

I use Spectral DNC in the AM and have for about 2 years. I like the product and have had excellent results with it. It does leave you hair on the stiff side, but for me this works well as a styling aid, so it's actually one of the things I like about Spectral DNC.

I've been using Dr. Klein's Promox in the PM since Nov. 1st. The stuff is exceptionally clean, fast drying, and non-greasy. A super nice topical in that regard. Too early to tell if I'll have any improved results with Promox. The 6 month mark should provide some idea.

What I've found about 5% topical Minoxidil solutions, and I've tried a variety, is that you may get some better results from those that contain additional ingredients. However, I wouldn't expect anything dramatic.

The big difference with Minoxidil solutions is how they leave your hair after application.

Rogaine, and over the counter generics, are all very greasy, slow drying, and non hair style friendly.

Spectral DNC is clean, fast drying, and non-greasy, but leaves your hair stiff after application.

Dr. Lee's standard 5% Minoxidil, with or without Retin-A, [products #500 and #501] are both very clean, non-greasy, fast drying, and very hair style freindly.

Dr. Klein's Remox and Promox solutions are exceptionally clean, fast drying, non-greasy, and super hair style friendly.

Whether Spectral DNC, Dr. Lee's Minoxidil, and/or Dr. Kliein's Minoxidil are worth the extra money is really a question of what an individual can and/or wishes to spend. For me, I can afford to spend whatever I wish, so it makes no difference. But, for those on a budget they may not be worth the extra money.

In order to determine if you'll have improved results with any of the above referenced Minoxidil solutions you really have to test drive them yourself over a period of at least 6 months. You may well get better results, however you may not.

If I had to pick one of the new Minoxidil solutions, with additional ingredients, that may provide the best chance of improved results, over standard 5% Minoxidil, it would be Dr. Klein's Promox. However, Promox is also the most expensive.

If you are looking inexpensive, clean, hair style freindly, Minoxidil solution for AM use Dr. Lee's product #500 if a great choice, nothing at all like that greasy Rogaine.

I just started Minomuck today and it was very oily/greasy at first but then dried fairly quick. It didn't leave my hair stiff like Spectral(which was no big deal). Nice to know Spectral now sends an eyedropper. Sandman, which Minox do you like the best?

Jetman:

Which Minoxidil I like best is a tough question to answer.

Essentially, beacuse you have to balance results, with how they leave your hair after application, coupled with comparative cost.

For me, cost is not a factor. So, my answer must be taken with that in mind. However, for others cost is quite important.

Right now, if someone told me that I had to choose one, and only one, Minoxidil solution to use both AM and PM it would be Dr. Lee's standard 5% with Retin-A [product #501]. However, after several more months of my test drive it could change to Dr. Klien's Promox!

I'm aware that many people can not tolerate Minoxidil solutions with Retin-A, but for me this has never been an issue. So, if we take the Retin-A factor out of my choice, my favorite would be Spectral DNC.

Cool! I just started Minomuck because I need something cost effective and it will only cost me a 1/4 of what I used to spend. We'll see what happens!

Hey there - thanks so much for your opinion - that is seriously helpful.

Am I right in thinking that Dr. Lee's stuff uses regular Minoxidil, not Minoxidil Sulfate and doesn't use Nanosomes? Is this perhaps something to think about?

Thanks again.
