For people quitting or thinking of quitting propecia due to sides.

I've been wondering recently why some people who quit propecia have their sides disappear quickly whereas others seem to take much longer for them to go.

I think it's due to the lipophilic nature of fin, which means it concentrates in fat stores. After you stop taking the drug, stored fin is released over time and gives you the continuing side effects. May also explain the 'lag' period between drug withdrawal and continuing hair loss. Basically, what I'm trying to say is that larger gentlemen may see their side effects disappear more slowly than those who are leaner.

Also I've recently read about liposomal enhancement of topically applied fin which seems promising. It showed 5x higher deposition of drug in skin compared to plain drug solution. So those who are getting sides, there may be an alternative coming soon which will hopefully prevent systemic side effects.

Laserkid, I am a lean 6'2 84kg 26 year old 14% body fat.

If you're trying to convince me and my girlfriend (lucky to still have) that if she cut down on my portions I'd have got a wood, she may have killed you!

Fin is a willy killer!

Took me about 4 months to get horny again, 7 months to perform again - all be it irregularly, and now 12 months later I think I am about 90%.

I want/need/ really like having good sex, when I didn't get a woody for the first time I began fearing sex! Sex and Fear DO NOT mix! Especially with a new lass!!!! I still have to laugh with her about when we first met my willy was broken! STILL!!! First impressions mean a LOT, a soft willy is NOT a good look!

Shit, it's ALL coming back!!!! Would rather be called 'Slap Head' EVERY morning and EVERY night than have to explain to a girl that my willy doesn't work cos I am taking a pill to stop me balding!!!! THAT was NOT a good conversion to have 3 weeks into a new relationship!

PLEASE save yourself the 'Baby, we need to talk.....you know Bruce Willis?' that is NOT the line I want to repeat!!!

I judged myself, wouldn't want to know what she thought!!!!

I'm also 6'2", 185 lb. I quit Fin almost 9 months ago and I'm still having shaft numbness/poor erections, etc. No excessive body fat here.

Fin doesn't chemically remain in your tissues months after quitting. It doesn't need to remain in your fat tissues to effect you long after you quit. It disrupts your endocrine system, atrophies your prostate tissue, and also possibly down regulate androgen receptors in genital tissue. In men like myself, the damage has already been done. It's now up to me and my body to recover.

If you've done any research into it, you'll already know that many men claim they've been off it for years but never recovered.

I'm sorry, but I don't agree with your theory.

Well fin is lipophilic so it will concentrate in fat stores and remain there after you have finished taking the drug. No one has 0% body fat so small amounts will be released over time dependent on the concentration gradient. A similar thing happens with anaesthetics but to a lesser extent because you only take the anaesthetic for a small length of time. Fat has a relatively poor bloody supply, so will require longer periods of time with higher doses for the agent to concentrate there, say when someone takes fin for a few months. It's then possible that if you are ultra sensitive to fin (most people who have sides are), then the miniscule amounts of drug that are released 'could' give you ongoing sides. I'm saying this is possible ... not probable.

In relation to those people who have continuing erectile dysfunction problems, I feel for them, I really do. But remember, erectile dysfunction is common (only have to look at pfizer's share price when they released viagra to see that!), and taking propecia is common (relatively), so some of these people may have had ED anyway, had they taken fin or not. I'm not here to cause an argument and LaserMeUp it seems that prob your loss of libido was due to fin, but now you've got it back that's great. I'm just saying that people who have been off fin for years and are still having ED should look into other reasons why it may be, psychological etc.

I'd rather have hair than have sex. Screw sex, I can do without it but I can't do without my hair. Sex is a temporary thing no matter how long it lasts, which is not more than a few minutes. Hair -or the lack of it- and what it can do to you or for you is a life long thing. The "side effects" (psychological, social and otherwise) that hair loss CAN and WILL cause -at least some people- is a billion times worse than Finestride side effects. I've been on Fin for many years and I don't know for sure if I have any side effects or not. I dont think about sex often but that's the way I am even before I started Fin. I guess I never had a strong sex drive or libido, which I think is a BLESSING. Even if you have the most beautiful woman, a few months later you get tired of her and sex wouldn't be such an exciting thing any more. In fact, for many people it just stops existing in their lives all togather. Many of you here are too worried about the sexual effects that Fin might have that you'd rather go bald than take the drug. Well, that's your choice but I remind you once more, sex WON'T LAST. Once again, I'd rather have hair than have sex.

Each to their own, but remember the only reason we are alive today is because we can have sex and pass on our genetic material. We are designed to have sex, period. Going bald is a bad thing, and everyone on this forum would agree but at the end of the day our role in life is to have offspring, no matter what you say. That is our role. When we die no-one will remember whether we had hair or not but we will live on forever in the genetic material we pass to our offspring.
