Using Nizoral + LLT. Anyone else getting an oily scalp? I'm using the laser helm 3 x per week and 1% Nizoral 5 x per week. My scalp has never been this oily. Anyone else seeing this? I've been doing this since about last September. Is it the Nizoral, the laser, or neither? Is it a good sign, bad sign, or neither?

You might want to only use Nizoral 2-3 times/week max and see how that works for you

I guess no one else is seeing this? Seriously, I've always had 'normal' to dry skin...

You're using the 2% nizoral way too often. Maybe your scalp is producing more oil to compensate for the oils that are stripped by the nizoral. I only use nizoral 3 times a month. Maybe you should switch to a 1% formulation. Revita has 1% nizoral in it. I used it last summer and liked it a lot, but stopped using it since it's kinda pricey. I'm thinking about using it again. I have a feeling that it'll be a good pre-laser shampoo, considering that it also has emu oil and copper peptides in it. Edit: i meant to say that Revita has 1% ketoconazole (which is the active ingredient in nizoral shampoo), not 1% nizoral.

IMO people without dandruff should not be using niz. I am one of the few with mpb that does not suffer from oil, flakes, or major inflamation and it seems the few times in the past I have used niz I have had big time overnight problems with my scalp. Almost an opposite effect like dryness, itch, and my hair overall feeeling and looking like shit.

I agree with Leva. I have used nizoral 2% for yrs, but only since the doctor told me i have seborraic dermititis, i started using it every day, and did so for months even though ur only supposed to use it everyday for a few weeks then go to twice weekly, but now i use it once every week. just enough for it to kill the microorganisms that cause seb. derm. IMO people with seb. derm, should use it only once a week, and anyone else shouldnt use it at all, or at least use 1%. its a great drug for treating seboraic dermititis, but its useless for everyday mpb, and its anti-androgenic properties do not outweigh the side effects like dry scalp, irritation and shedding.
