I have just recently started thinning from all over top of my head, not really sides. I am 25 and this has been going on for about 2 month's now. At first I thought it was stress due to a job change, but it's definitely not. I'm trying to eat better and work out more and my job is physical already.

I bought a Laser but way to early to tell if its effective. What would you guys suggest I do to fight this? Its starting to get noticable.

Thanks!

There are a lot of options, some more proven than others. The most common and proven ones are linked to at the top of every page on this site (Propecia, Avodart, Rogaine, Nizoral/Ketoconazole, and lasers). Propecia and avodart can have side effects in some men so that is something to consider, but the % of men who have them is low. Nizoral is probably the easiest for you to add to your regimen with lasers. Some people have had good results using both minoxidil and lasers, others don't recommend it.

Aside from those there are dozens if not hundreds of other treatments without a ton of evidence for their working. Consider the most proven ones first and if they aren't for you, then consider the rest. The best thing to do is read up on all of them (a good place to start is the hairloss treatments area of this site) and reading in the forums. Don't jump into anything until you've read up on what your options are and consider the tradeoffs. When in doubt about a certain treatment, there are usually others who have used them you can ask in the forums.

PS - what kind of laser do you have, how long have you been using it, and how how long/often are you using it?

I have a lasermax, 12laser hand held unit. I have been using nizoral actually too, it seems to thicken and dry hair which is helping.

Have been looking into this DHT Blocking, Which is better, Avodart, Propecia, Saw palmetto?

Should I add a DHT Shampoo like http://nisim.com?

Avodart is the best DHT blocker for hair growth, but it is also the one you are most likely to have side effects from and it takes the longest to get out of your body if you do have them. I don't think people who haven't tried finasterde should try dutasteride -- if you can't handle propecia, you definitey can't handle avodart -- and propecia side effects will wear off quicker if you have them. Saw Palmetto SHOULD work, but I've never really seen anyone who got the same kind of results propecia/avodart users get from it.

As for shampoos, it depends on the $$ you are willing to spend. I'd always recommend an oral or topical treatment first if your $$ are limited -- they are more effective for hair loss than most shampoos. Nizoral is the most proven shampoo for hair loss of any so far and is relatively cheap. There are some shampoos out there now combining ketoconazole (the active ingredient in nizoral) with other good ingredients, so if you can find one of those that's a good way to go. For shampoos I go primarily for cosmetic benefit -- how thick they make your hair look and how manageable/conditioning. Most shampoos won't do much for hair loss even with nice ingredients. The only 2 ingredients that have been PROVEN to work in shampoos are Ketoconazole and Caffeine. Other ingredients have info that they probably SHOULD help, but that is different from PROVEN. Shampoos with both of those ingredients that make your hair look nice and thick are what you should be looking for in a shampoo if you are looking for what will most likely help you. There are lots of shampoos out there, and I'm not saying they don't work, just that I've never seen any proof of them growing hair other than those two ingredients.

Have done a bit more research, pretty sure I'm starting male pattern baldness. I am going to stick with nizoral as its so easy to get..Minoxadil sounds a bit scary.. Where should I get Avodart/Propecia? Do I have to go to a doctor?

You can order it online (main benefit cheaper) or get it from a doctor. Some doctors may not want to prescribe avodart I'm not sure how common that is. You are more likely to see side effects with avodart or propecia than minoxidil. Nothing scarey about it

Minoxildil also called "Rogaine" Would you suggest taking Propecia/Avodart at the same time as Rogaine?

Minoxidil is something you have to committ to keep taking, as are propecia and avodart. They only work as long as you lose them and if you stop eventually hair loss will resume and you will lose a lot of what you kept or regained. But they are also the most proven to really work. As for using both, it's best to use both as propecia and avodart block DHT, the hormone that leads to hairloss, and minoxidil stimulates hair growth, so you get a better result with both than either of them alone.

There are potential side effects to propecia and avodart, and you should read about them before making a decision on whether to use them. I have not had any side effects. Other people have. Studies say it's over a 95% chance you won't have them but that still leaves a few % chance.

As someone who doesn't have a lot of cash myself (!) and is not keen on taking Propecia and/or Minoxil for the rest of my life, I would recommend a good caffeine based shampoo - I use Alpecin (they also have a topical lotion) total cost less than £15 or $25 (?) a month. The science is good and will help you until something better comes along. www.alpecin.com. The Aubrey Organic Mens Range have great shampoos / conditioners that are kind to your scalp e.g. http://www.aubreyorganics.co.uk/prod-99-ginseng-biotin-hair-repair.html
