Hi All,

I am suffering from Male Pattern Baldness from 8 years,as i live in India and excess to Saw Palmetto is kinda nil, homeopathy has saw palmetto which is called as Sabal Serrulata in the mother tincture form (Q) with 50% alcohol, this is meant to treat BPH.

Any advise that i can use this ? i have already started with two doses, but searching on the web revealed the intake of saw palmetto is 160mg or 320 mg, as i have the tincture form i am not exactly sure how many drops should be consumed. I have also applied this tincture on the scalp where there is hair loss. It's only been a few days since i have used this.

Any advise or help will be greatly appreciated

Since you're using a nonstandard tincture there's really no way to know what dose you are even using.  All you can do is try it and see if it works for you.

Hi,

Thanks for your reply. Well it is a mother tincture which contains saw palmetto extracts from the berries i suppose with 50% alcohol.

I am starting treatment with Finpecia 1mg one tablet daily (by Cipla) a generic version of propecia, and also will be continuing saw palmetto tincture 1 teaspoon or with application on the scalp where the hair has been lost. I shall update on the results whenever possible.

If anyone knows the results of Finpecia please do let me know.

Zibban.

I bought Saw palmetto extract 320 mg from vitacost.com. Why dont you buy there and get it shipped to India...

My roots are in India, but settled in Singapore.

Sekar,

Regarding the saw palmetto extract 320 mg from vitacost, since how long have you been using it ?

Have you seen any benefits like no hair loss or thickening of the hair ? have you gained any weight , has it done any good on the prostrate? Is this product costly.

There's is also another product from Amway called as Nutrilite Saw Palmetto with Nettle root 320 mg.

I have just bought it. Haven't started to use. I go to gym, and am in bulking phase, and I don't want SP to interfere with my harmones and thus muscle growth (just my opinion).

I am not balding as such, but overall thinning all over the head...not sure if SP is going to help..but I am trying ot attack the problem from all angles.

Weight gain - not sure what is the connection with SP ?. good on prostrate - no idea, unless you have prostrate problems, I don't have any.....

Its not too pricey, for me. 'Pricey' is a subjective thing...

SP + Nettles is a good combo too.

My opinion is, only the big 3 can give big results...others provide supportive benefits....just my opinion though..

Well i have done quite an extensive search on Saw Palmetto, this herb and also Nettle root is used for BPH which is the enlargement of the prostrate and DHT seems to enlarge the prostrate. The excessive testosterone gets converted to DHT after a certain age. Saw palmetto stops the conversion of this hormone to DHT. Saw palmetto builds muscles to. So i think even for body building it should be good. A minor temporary side effects are given.

Do let me know when you start taking this supplement and how it affects.

I am worried about taking any kind of Finastride pill due to the number of side effects which may also become permanent who knows.

Anything that (SP or Fin) influences Tests and DHT is going to have side-effects. And, if they give you results, stopping them will make you lose as well.
