I've been looking online to find out if there are any studies in regard to Nizoral tablets. Given that Keto shampoo is one of the "big three", why aren't the tablets looked at more closely? I know they are used for fungal infections. I have heard the tabs are potentially damaging to the liver but I don't know if that's a rare side effect or something more commonplace.

There are a lot more side effects if it is taken orally from what I understand.  Don't think it is something you would want to take like that for hair loss.  If you are going to take something oral there are lots of other things that would be better with fewer side effects.

I really don't like the idea of someone taking keto tablets on an ongoing basis. You could end up with a "superbug". Keto is designed to kill fungal type bacteria. If you take it indefinitely the fungal bacteria (that everyone has) can become resistent ....next thing you know you have a fungal infection that nothing on earth might kill. Then you're screwed.

Furthermore you'd be taking it for it's antiandrogen properties not for it's fungal killing properties. Since that's the case, propecia or dut would in my humble opinion work better and probably be safer. I'm not a big fan of either but it I think it would be safer than taking keto.

I wasn't really saying I wanted to take it, more wondering why the tablets haven't been explored as another treatment (in addition to fin or dut) given the benefits of keto shampoo. I suppose the side effects of long-term use would be the biggest reason.

What might help make the keto more effective is if it was in a shampoo that wasn't as harsh as Nizoral. I don't believe it is the keto that fries your scalp but the other ingredients in it all designed around killing fungus and not growing hair. I believe this site has a supplier that makes a more gentle version......that way you could leave it on longer before washing it out of your scalp.

I believe keto is a good substance but Nizoral give the stuff a bad name sometimes.

The Nizoral 1% is not too bad, but I agree the 2% tends to fry hair.

I agree with zix that it must be the other ingredients in the shampoo and not the keto itself, because I have been applying 2% cream every day for the last couple of weeks and have not had any issues.  The nizoral 2% shampoo is pretty harsh though.

Yea I didn't see it at first but Regenpure has a version that contains keto. Probably a lot less harsh than Nizoral.
