Definitely something to think about, but when you break down the numbers it means your chances of it happening are probably 0.01% or less.  I would also bet the risk of prosate cancer is reduced more than the risk of breast cancer is increased.

Don't be surprised if Avodart doesn't get hit with such a warning next.  If finasteride does it, avodart most likely will too.

I think it's just insane to take things like this, and I'll even throw in- many supplements, day after day after day, for years and years. But that's just me.

What evidence do you base your decisions on that all the products you try are any safer jacob?  Natural products can have side effecst as well.

I still don't get how some can just say well he started taking this and now he has that so it must be what he took. I don't understand how some people's minds work and can pass judgment so easily. I, by no means, am saying that it was not the cause but the body is quite a complicated entity and who knows what else was going on with those individuals.

It could very well be Destro.  Propecia will affect not only your DHT but will raise testosterone and estrogen.  A rise in estrogen could lead to breast cancer.  That being said there are millions of men who've taken finasteride, so for there to only be 53 men means your chances have to be one in several hundred thousand, possibly one in over a million i'm not sure how many men take/have taken finasteride... maybe lower if you take into account the age group that experienced it, which was older men.   It is interesting that 50 of the cases were proscar and only 3 were propecia -- the difference in the effect between the two as far as hormone levels is very small, so i'm not sure why there would be so much more for proscar vs. propecia other than possibly older men may be more likely to be on proscar for bph.  It does make you wonder if these men have BPH and are taking it for that then what else might be going on in their body that might be helping see this.  Either way, it's not something that would keep me from taking either based on the small statistical chance - not that I am taking either now anyway.
