It's official - I am not going back to avodart. Had a sharp loss of libido and I wasn't sure whether it was coincidental or due to the avodart, but after being off about a week and a half libido has returned. I am using it topically mixed with minoxidil now and no side effects - then again who knows how well it will work that way. I quit finasteride earlier this year after restarting for the same reason. Bummer. "Don't be afraid to see what you see. "

Man I am going through the same thing as you with internal dht blockers. I'm almost fighting myself debating whether or not I should take them. Currently taking saw palmetto. I just want to get off of it and try and come to terms with it but once you start losing it pulls you right back in.

So you are having side effects from saw palmetto? Luckily it did not take long for it to reverse... avodart can stay in your body for a month so I thought it might take that long to go away. "Don't be afraid to see what you see. "

very very minimal side effects. The whole un natural aspect of it all is what turns me away from it. Ive had more inflammation on it as i have posted preciously but I cant pin this soley on it. However everytime Im off of it i have none.

Webmaster, That's why I stopped finasteride and started Saw Palmetto extract. I get similar results and no side effects. I take two 320 mg pills a day. 1 in the morning, one in the evening. I was almost going to start avodart but was worried about the side effects so I didn't. I'm sorry you had problems with it but that confirms my decision, I'm gonna take jaydees advice and try the sea buckthorn oil shampoo and washing twice a day. Once with that and once with Revita. Keeping the scalp clean and free of toxins. I've been thinking about his premise and reading a lot about it and I think he's right. There's some correlation with dht, inflammation, and maybe even demodex mites. It seems like anything that controls inflammation helps with hair loss, lasers, tocotrienol, hydrocortisone cream etc. Keeping the scalp clean makes sense too, if there's any dht in the excess sebum cleaning it off has to help minimize the effects.

I never had noticeable sides from propecia or avodart...except maybe a little gyno but that's hard to tell because I've always suffered from a slight case of that....but my approach to either of these drugs is that they don't need to be taken daily to be effective. I think the body needs DHT so eliminating it seems too strict to me. I take propecia 3 times a week as part of my regimin. Propecia and avodart are both effective at eliminating my "sore spots" on my scalp. those sore spots always precede any hair loss I have. They are the only things that seem to take those away. At 3 times a week i still do not have any sore spots, so in my case I believe taking propecia or avodart less often still does the job.

I'm still using the avodart, just topically mixed with minoxidil instead of orally. No side effects topically. Not everyone gets the side effects - if i could take it orally without getting them I'd still do it! "Don't be afraid to see what you see. "

Personally, I am convinced this is the right approach and IMHO, should be as effective as oral, given that circulating T is not the problem with MPB.
Still using topical keto as well? That plus topical avodart is the best treatment.
