Hi everyone, I'm a male in my 20s who has been taking Propecia for about 1.5 yrs now and has experienced some mild hair regrowth. Unfortunately, I have also noticed a very gradual decrease in libido since I've started the process that has now become noticeable. I suspect that side effects like this one that come on very gradually would not be accurately reflected in the published 2% side effects with Propecia because people simply do not notice the changes because they come on so gradually... Anyway, I would like to determine whether or not it really is the Propecia that is causing my loss of libido and not something else, but I'm not sure what the best way is to determine this. Certainly, I could go off Propecia for a while and see if my libido comes back, but then I would risk undoing a lot of the hair regrowth that I've experienced. I would do this for a few days, but if it would take a few weeks to notice any differences in my libido, I'm not sure it would be worth it. So, my first question is: 1) If anyone has experienced a loss of libido and has subsequently gotten it back after coming off Propecia, how long did this take? I am also considering simply lowering the dosage (maybe to 0.5 mg) and seeing if this brings my libido back. So, my second question is: 2) How low can the Finasteride dosage go while still having a significant effect on stopping hair loss. Thanks. Any thoughts at all would be greatly appreciated!

Re: Loss of Libido with Propecia I'm a 26 yr old male and have been on proscar 1.25mg for years. I've not experienced sexual side effects attributable to propecia but don't discount the fact that this can happen. Kind of strange that this is a gradual process for you. I would tend to think this might not be caused by proscar. Either way, I don't think you should be afraid of getting of proscar for 2 weeks. In fact, this might even help you if you are prone to develop tolerance to it down the road. This is enough time to determine if procar is the problem. phil said: Hi everyone,I'm a male in my 20s who has been taking Propecia for about 1.5 yrs now and has experienced some mild hair regrowth. Re: Loss of Libido with Propecia Actually, the majority of people who take propecia report no side effects. For me, it's basically just less interest in sex, but of course, different people have different reactions.armin said: I am thinking of going on propecia..How does a loss of labido reflect? Re: Loss of Libido with Propecia i experienced this side effect after only 11 days on propecia. it was very scary. i immediately stopped taking it. i'm only 28 years old. i don't need that problem at this point in my life. i feel like flushing those evil pills right down the toilet. i'd way rather be bald than impotent. after not dosing for 3 days, things have definitely improved. unfortunately, i bought a 6 month supply. what a waste of money.

Re: Loss of Libido with Propecia armin,i wish i could try minoxidil. the problem is: my hair loss is only at the front hairline. rogaine clearly states it doesn't work on that part. i thought propecia would be better for that. by the way, funny how merck claims only 2% suffer sexual problems from propecia. what a crock. just by reading this forum, i'd say about 50% have at least noticed a difference in sex drive. perhaps my reaction to the drug was more extreme than most, but i think many have at least noticed the side effect.

Re: Loss of Libido with Propecia Minox may not regrow your hairline as much as back, but it will definitely slow down your hairloss at front. I think that my hairline has been same for last 4 years on minox..

Re: Loss of Libido with Propecia Hi guys, been using Propecia/Proscar and minox for over 3 yrs with great results. My experience with libido loss is that it mostly comes back after you have been on the drug for 3 months or so/ Many of the side effects wear off in time, and if it does'nt quitting will reverse the side effects. Also the drug co.s can only claim results on the top and back of the head because that is where they did the testing to get the drug passed the FDA for sale, but believe me if you are a good responder you can get the front filled in as well. I have recovered from a late Norwood 3 to a near complete recovery. It takes time and I did have noticeable shed cycles along the way where I would get filled in, but then for a month or so 1/2 inch hairs would fall out. After about 3-4 months they would fill back in with thicker and longer replacements, as my hair reversed the shrinking process which was causing the baldness. Good Luck, Temp
